The Lords of Hypocrisy” is the result of the great feedback received by Pagan Altar after many years of inactivity, when the band seemed long time put to sleep. After the release of the CD “Volume I” in 1998, the band was pushed by a consistent number of enthusiast fans to put out as well the album supposed to follow their first work. The impossibility to resurrect the old-recorded tracks filed in tapes spoiled by time led to a complete re-recording of the songs although it was impossible to gather the full original line-up for such task. So in the year 2004 the band entered “ Oracle Studios”, now heir of the mighty “Pagan studios”, to lay down material written between '78 and '83 that just sounds so actual after so many years of oblivion!
Delicate passages introduce riff-driven marriages of vocals harmonies and lead-breaks to take the listener to more reflective paths than average musical attempts. Beside dark themes, Lords of Hypocrisy contains as well personal points of view on society and religion with rich and strong images all over the tracks.
Pagan Altar create a very special atmosphere with their music which is a unique mix of the dark musical side of the 70s Metal, combined with a generous NWOBHM touch and trademarked by those haunted vocals and those majestic lead guitar parts that the listener would be able to discover song by song.
In this second album that is now re issued the band carries all the magic of their debut expanding it on each and every "Lord Of Hypocrisy" song. Alan and terry Jones on guitar and vocals would create this unique musical spirit that generates this unique Pagan Altar sound we all worship. You can not go wrong with this band, they are offering something very special, it is your chance to grab it!
There is not really much that I can write about this record, you would better stop reading and go on listening. For those who have missed the original pressing now it is your chance to grab this record once again.
